The School District of Palm Beach County continues to put its share of the one-cent sales tax to good use. A series of projects is being funded by proceeds from the Penny Sales Tax, which is expected to generate approximately $2.7 billion over 10 years.
- Debuting in August 2020, the new and improved Verde Elementary School campus will welcome more than 1,300 students.
- Del Prado Elementary School is in the third year of deferred maintenance work, including a new roof, replacement of all the flooring, ceiling and lighting as well as renovation of all the bathrooms.
- Promises Made, Promises Kept. Wellington Landings Middle School underwent major renovations this summer. The renovations were made possible by the Penny Sales Tax approved by voters in 2016.
- The school (Loxahatchee Groves ES) was built in 1986 or ’87 so it was in desperate need of a facelift, Myerson said. “I’m calling it LES 2.0 next year. It’s almost like we’re rebranding the school.
